I'm not a nurse. Can I still use it?

Yes. Shiftlyx is built for healthcare workers first — paramedics, midwives, HCAs, theatre staff. If you work shifts in the NHS, it's for you. Other sectors coming later.

Do I need to invite my employer or colleagues?

No. Shiftlyx is personal. You can use it entirely alone. Partner Sync (Premium) is optional and only with people you choose.

Will it tell me not to work a shift?

No. Shiftlyx never blocks you or tells you what to do. It shows you the fatigue impact of each option. The decision is always yours. We advise, never authorise.

Does it work with my trust's rostering system?

Not directly — we don't integrate with HealthRoster or similar tools. But you can snap or enter your rota in seconds. The format is simple and consistent.

The Short Answer

Your shift data stays on your device. Shiftlyx uses local processing for all fatigue calculations. No data is sent to a server unless you explicitly choose to enable cloud backup.

Why This Matters for NHS Workers

NHS staff have legitimate concerns about employer access to personal data. Your shift pattern reveals a lot: when you work, where you work, how often you take leave, your typical fatigue levels. None of this belongs in an employer dashboard.

Shiftlyx does not have an employer portal. There is no way for your manager, HR department, or trust IT team to access your data. The app has no organisational account structure. Every account is individual and private.

Data Storage

**On-device storage (default):** All data is stored locally using your device's encrypted storage. No cloud servers involved. No accounts to create. No passwords to manage.

**Cloud backup (optional):** You can enable encrypted cloud backup to protect against data loss if you change devices. This backup is end-to-end encrypted. Shiftlyx cannot read your data even if you enable this feature.
